Course Description & Goals

This fifteen hour interactive workshop is designed for teachers, counselors, school staff, and administrators who want an effective discipline approach that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging student behaviors. Attendees will earn recognition as a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator.

  • Develop a large teaching toolbox of kind and firm discipline approaches.

  • Establish explicit classroom structures and procedures.

  • Create an equitable classroom community based on mutual respect.

  • Understand the motivation behind students' misbehavior and how to encourage positive change.

  • Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving.

  • Learn Positive Discipline/Adlerian psychology to use in the classroom and school community.

  • Generate an awareness of cross-cultural issues in facilitating social and emotional learning.

Paulina Cuevas Vega

Paulina Cuevas Vega is a citizen of the world. She was born, grew up and started her lifelong passion for learning and advocating for a world where everyone belongs, in Chile. She has a psychology degree and a MA in Educational Psychology and PK-12 school counseling license from the University of Minnesota. She is a Certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer and a member of Disciplina Positiva Chile team, and the Positive Discipline Association. She has 20 years of experience working as a School Counselor in local and international schools in the USA, Chile, and China. She loves supporting educators and families towards nurturing inclusive school and class communities that ensure every child develops a sense of belonging and significance that allows them to thrive. Paulina’s endless curiosity has been an inspiration to constantly expand her comfort zone, while traveling to more than 25 countries around the world. She thrives when meeting new people, learning new languages, being immersed in different cultures, and doing white water kayaking in different geographies. One of the most life-changing experiences in her adult life has been to live, work and make friends for 5 years in mainland China. Paulina has also been a yoga practitioner since her teenage years. When the pandemic started, she decided to deepen her studies and practice of yoga. In September 2021, she got her 200 hour RYT certification as a wellness, SEL facilitator and yoga trainer. Her passion is to share Positive Discipline and yoga from a social justice framework, in inclusive, accessible and trauma sensitive ways. Paulina currently lives with her husband in WA, and she loves her online work with families and educators in Chile and China.

Jill Stansbury

Jill Stansbury is a Social and Emotional Learning Consultant and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction trainer based out of Blaine, Washington. In addition, she is a certified Positive Discipline teacher & parent educator/trainer and has facilitated parent and educator learning communities in preschools, charter schools, independent schools, homeless shelters, and online in both China and the United States for 14 years.

She holds a master's degree in educational leadership from DePaul University and a Montessori teaching credential. Brown University recognizes her as a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher, and she has been studying and practicing mindfulness for 25 years. She has over 25 years of classroom and administrative experience in early childhood through secondary education. Her goal has always been to guide people to look at their strengths and learn additional tools to increase wellness. This course is part of her vision to share that approach with as many individuals, educators and parents as possible so that the world becomes a place that welcomes and cares for us all.

Cancellation / Refund Policy

A full refund minus a $35 processing fee will be given when the request for a refund is made up to 30 days prior to the first day of a workshop. Refunds are not available for cancellations less than 30 days before a workshop. However, paid registrants can transfer to another workshop within one year at no additional cost. Refunds are not available after a transfer is made or if you do not provide advanced notice that you will not be attending the workshop. 


In the event of a cancellation, participants will be notified via email.
